Volunteers, Internships and Teams

PPAF welcomes the talent and enthusiasm of professionals and students who want to become engaged in work that makes a difference. Volunteers, interns and teams have the opportunity to get involved with the United Nations, corporate social responsibility and partnerships against poverty.

Assignments are available on a part-time or fulltime basis throughout the year, and include "virtual" opportunities focused on e-mail and internet.

Volunteers

PPAF seeks volunteers with technical and management skills related to its priorities. County or regional experience and language skills are particularly helpful. Currently volunteers are assisting with strategic planning, management and marketing, with website design, communications, and social networking, and with locating sources of financing for PPAF programs.

Volunteer positions are unpaid. Specific volunteer opportunities are announced on www.idealist.org.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us to discuss your skills and our needs. David Stillman: ppafoundation@gmail.com. To confirm receipt, please call 914-478-3450.

Internships

PPAF seeks qualified interns, especially graduate students and upper-level undergraduates. Excellent English writing skills are required; Spanish or French language is highly desirable and required for some positions. Applications are considered on a rolling basis and internships may vary in length.

Internships may be available in the various program areas of PPAF as well as in Communications and technology (website, graphic design), proposal writing, project tracking and other areas of non-profit management. Specific internships are announced on www.idealist.org.

These are unpaid internships. PPAF will work with an intern to design the specific responsibilities and to provide mentoring and evaluation as needed for academic credit.

Application process:

Please send your resume, including contact information, education, relevant coursework, special achievements, computer software skills, language skills and two academic references, to David Stillman: ppafoundation@gmail.com. To confirm receipt, please call 914-478-3450.

Interns and Volunteers are responsible for their own insurance coverage.

Teams

Graduate students have worked as consulting teams with PPAF and its counterpart, the UN Public-Private Alliance for Rural Development, on research-action projects, usually as part of their academic program. They have worked in New York, Madagascar and the Dominican Republic in handicrafts marketing, evaluation of an education project, promotion of microcredit and rural insurance, and other topics.

“The United Nations can only do its job properly with partners. We will need to forge even closer ties to civil society groups, foundations, academic institutions, the media, labour unions, and the private sector. Each has unique contributions to make.”
