What You Can Do:  Volunteer, Intern and Give Generously

Volunteer

We  welcome the talent and enthusiasm of volunteers who work with us on projects, in communications, on fundraising and in other areas.

Assignments are available on a part-time or full-time basis throughout the year, and include "virtual" opportunities.

Some things volunteers have done:
  • Developed and managed the website;
  • Translated a micro-finance manual from English to French;
  • Served on a fundraising committee;
  • Served as MC for a fundraising event.
Country or regional experience and language skills are particularly helpful.   Volunteer opportunities are announced on http://www.idealist.org.

Application process:
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us to discuss your skills and our needs. Email: David Stillman at ppafoundation@gmail.com  or telephone: 914-478-3450.

Volunteer Teams

Graduate students have worked as consulting teams with the Foundation on research-action projects, usually as part of their academic program. They have worked in New York, Madagascar and the Dominican Republic in handicrafts marketing, evaluation of an education project, promotion of micro-credit and rural insurance, and have written fund-raising proposals.

Intern

We seek qualified interns, especially graduate students and upper-level undergraduates. Excellent English writing skills are required; Spanish or French language skills are highly desirable and required for some positions.  A few high school students have also interned..

Applications are considered on a rolling basis and internships may vary in length.  Internships may be available in the various program areas of PPAF as well as in communications and technology (website, social media, graphic design), proposal writing, project tracking and other areas of non-profit management. Specific internships are announced here and on http://www.idealist.org.

Internships are unpaid. The Foundation will work with an intern to design the specific responsibilities and to provide mentoring and evaluation as needed for academic credit.

Application process:  Please send your resume, including contact information, education, relevant coursework, special achievements, computer software skills, language skills and two academic references, to David Stillman, Executive Director: ppafoundation@gmail.com.  To confirm receipt, please call 914-478-3450.
